Daylight Necklace

Hey folks! Here is your regular dose of VL: The Daylight necklace!

Wear a bit of the bright blue summer sky, even on cloudy days. This summery necklace hangs at around 17”, featuring eight beautiful flat genuine turquoise beads, and finished with large link sterling silver flat cable chain and a bold sterling silver toggle clasp. Looks great alone, or layered with the Nyx necklace!

And that's pretty much all I have to say about it. My wire wrapping was complimented by someone, and when I looked, I saw it really was kind of nice. Check it out, if you dare!

Nyx Necklace

Hello, internetsians! I've been a little under the weather for a few days, but I'm slowly getting back to normal now. I just listed a new necklace, called Nyx, which stands for Night. It features a really cool blue goldstone, and just so I don't get slammed by stone afficionados, let me say that I am aware that goldstone is made of glass. Photos and a description follow:


Sparkle with the elegant simplicity of the night sky in the country. Delicate sterling silver chain leads to a textured brass ring, from which a 14mm blue goldstone bead hangs. Total length is about 19”.

Beaches Necklace

Greet the summer sun with this light, simple necklace! This is a casual and breezy accessory, fit for lunch at a harbour front café or a walk on the beach. Delicate sterling silver chain leads to a textured brass ring, from which a 22mm puffed coin lampwork bead hangs with a cream coloured freshwater pearl. Total length is about 22”.

Bryan hasn't written a description for this one yet because I'm listing things faster than he can come up with brilliant things to say about them. I'll edit him in if he becomes available, don't you worry...

In other news, it looks like I'll be publishing a short article on HandmadeNews.com! It's a sister site to Artfire.com, a site that makes me wonder if I should open a shop there too. Sweet Pea Pod bracelet

I had to post two pics of this because it's really hard to capture how awesome this bracelet looks in a photo. If only you could see it in person, you'd totally get it....but anyway, it's pretty cool. I was surprised at how well this turned out, actually; everything is so colourful and deep and luminous. I'm really happy with it, and I have more like it in different sizes on the way. Here's what I said about it on Etsy:

Looking for some fresh flavour that will last longer than the time it takes to chew and swallow? Have I got the set for you – starting with this vibrant bracelet. A dark green polymer pod encases six bright peas of pearl, wrapped at both ends with sterling silver wire and strung on delicate sterling silver rollo chain. Two darker green pearl peas flank the sterling silver lobster clasp and ring. The length of the chain makes the bracelet fit comfortably at 7”, but I can alter this if needed. Looks really bright and fresh!

Blueberry Bird...

Good news! My Blueberry Bird necklace has been featured in another Etsian's blog! Check out Mystic Wynd for cool writings about everything from astrology to birds (which is where my BB necklace landed), and lots of featured Etsy sellers! It's a great blog with great things in it, and I'm not just saying that because I'm in it.

I may list something new tonight, if the mood strikes me. I did make a new necklace today, but the absence of sun in the sky at midnight makes for lackluster photos. I'll let you know as soon as anything exciting happens, folks.

A Dog a Day: A Cat

I went back to the SPCA yesterday and wore myself out walking lots of lovable dogs. This time I also met a few lovable cats! See, it went like this: there were two fluffy grey kittens, and then one of them was adopted, so the other one was, in my imagination, sad. So I played with him, and let me tell you - there was a period of about fifteen minutes when I was sure I was not leaving the place without him. I did come to my senses eventually, though, since he was into everything and enjoyed climbing me like I was a tree and not a soft, bleedy human being. His photo is gone from the site, which I guess means he didn't have to sleep alone at the shelter for long. Just trust me, he was super cute.

Then I met a cat that I really do want to take home. His name is Carizma:

He's beautiful. I'm told he was surrendered because there was no time for him, which sucks for him because he is really sweet. I wanted to take him home too, I think I mentioned, but we're not ready for a new pet yet. We have some cleaning to do, we just lost our totally awesome cat Midnight after 12 years...anyway, yeah. Carizma. If he's still there when we are ready, I would like to adopt him. Stay tuned to see how that turns out, if you can handle the suspense!

In the Dark Woods

Bryan hasn't seen this one, so I don't have a nifty description yet. Aside from mine, of course.

Casual and dark, organic and mysterious – this is the necklace to wear if you want to show your esoteric side. Fossil jasper rounds are wired individually into a 20” necklace, leading to a carved dark wood teardrop pendant. Sterling silver holds it all together, fastening with a sterling silver toggle clasp.
